Searching for groups
Search for a group by going to the 'Groups' tab.
Here you can enter a group name or search by a list of group categories.
Results can be ordered by Most Popular (Default), Newest-Oldest, or alphabetically.
Creating a group
Creating your own group is quick and easy:
- Select the 'Groups' tab
- Click on 'Create Group'
- Select a category for your group that best suits the group theme
- Choose a name for your group – make it easy to understand, and easy for others to search (for example: 'Quit Smoking' is much better than 'No more fags')
- Enter a group description. This will appear at the top of your group page. Again, make it easy for other members to understand what the group is about.
- Choose a sub-domain. This sounds complicated, but is actually just web-speak for the words which will appear in the web address. For example, if your group is for cycling, the sub-domain could be 'Cyclingtips'. The web address will then be: http://cyclingtips.timeshealthclub.co.uk, making it easier for others to quickly access the group.
- Decide the group's privacy setting. It can be Open (any Times Health Club user can join), Closed (requiring approval from you before new members can join), or Private (not visible to members, unless you invite them to participate)
- Upload an image to represent your group. You can do this later if you wish. In the meantime a default image will appear.
- Click 'Create Group' and you are finished!
Why doesn't my group appear straight away?
This is because before a group displays it needs to be approved by the Times Health Club moderation team.
Once it is approved you will get a message in your Times Health Club profile inbox.
You will then be able to search for your group in the Groups homepage.
A forum relating to your group will appear under the 'Groups' tab of the Times Health Club.
Forum and you will be able to start posting messages.
Joining a group
If a group type is set as 'Open' click the 'Join this Group' button and you will immediately appear as a member. You can go to the Group forum under the 'Groups' tab of the Times Health Club Forum and you will be able to start posting messages straight away.
If a group type is set as 'Closed' click 'Request to Join'. A message will be sent to the group owner asking them to approve your membership. Once it has been approved you will receive a message in your Times Health Club inbox. You will appear as a member in the group and will be able to start posting messages in the Group's forum under the 'Groups' tab of the Times Health Club Forum
If a group type is set as 'Private' you will not be able to view the group or request to join it.
Inviting friends to join a group
You can invite friends to join a group you are a member of by clicking on the 'Invite a Friend' button on your group page.
If a group is set as 'Private' only the owner can invite friends.
